The White House Bullying Resource Website
The Memory and Power project is a multimedia community arts project that seeks to deconstruct and contextualize bullying and its effects, emotions, and solutions through collaborative art making. The project is organized by artist Quentin Gibeau, and will result in 3 artistic products that will be the result of a series of community workshops.
1) A ZINE
The first product, a short publication, uses collaborative writing to express workshop participants’ personal narrative of bullying in a non-linear way.
2) A PAINTING
A collaborative painting, made with the input of the participants of these community workshops to illustrate and express the story of Bullying. The Painting’s ultimate use will be as a teaching tool for breaking down these scenarios for young people.
3) RADIO SHOW
The process and research around this project will be documented in a three part radio series, broadcast on the Maryland Institute College of Arts’ Radio WICV, http://radio.mica.edu/. The First of these programs will begin in late April.
The project will culminate on May 3rd with the publication of its initial run of zines, as well as its 1st radio piece, and the display of its collaborative painting at the Maryland Institute College of Art’s MFA in Community Arts Commencement show at MICA PLACE, at 814 N. Collington, in East Baltimore.
